I was proud to serve in the Army with the Berlin Brigade during the demise of the Soviet Union under President Ronald Reagan. I saw first-hand the destructive power of socialism, and as a sixth generation Texan, I became determined to make sure it never took root in my state.
As an Infantry officer, I commanded troops at the platoon, company and battalion level. As an infantry platoon leader, I was responsible for at least $20 million worth of men, equipment, and weapon systems; as a company executive officer and commander the value was near $100 million and as a property book officer I was responsible for the accountability of all men, equipment, and weapons systems for an entire battalion worth at $600 million.
